Dr. Nitika Tolani is a technical director with over 17 years of experience in strategic planning, program design, management, research and monitoring and evaluation in the early and basic education sectors. She has provided technical assistance in over 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Pacific, working with a diverse array of donors, contractors and Ministries of Education. She specializes in evaluation design and implementation, including randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental studies and qualitative case studies in education and child protection. She works across development environments, from low and middle-income countries to conflict and crisis-affected situations. Her projects include providing technical oversight for monitoring and evaluation support services to USAID in South Sudan, leading a methodological review and synthesis of USAID-funded education evaluations, and a longitudinal evaluation of a science and vocational education program in Thailand. She has a master's degree in applied psychology in education and a doctorate in developmental psychology from Columbia University.
